INDIVIDUAL RESIDENTIAL STUDY COURSES

These include individual and group courses for unaccompanied adults.

COURSES

  • Group Courses

Based on conversational skills, grammar and vocabulary building, in groups of between 8 – 15 adults. Between 15 – 30 lessons per week.

  • Group 5

One of the characteristics of this course is the limited number of participants (4/6 people per class) and an in-depth study of specific terminology of interest to the student.

  • Individual courses

The minimum duration is one week and the course is generally intensive (up to 10 lessons per day). The programme is customized to individual needs

  • Home-Stay Programme

The student stays in the teacher’s home : from 15 to 30 individual lessons per week

  • Courses preparing from Cambridge examinations

Preparation for Preliminary (PET), First Certificate (FCE), Advanced (CAE), Proficiency (CPE).

Generally at least 3 months abroad is required for these examinations.

STAYING WITH FAMILIES

Host families are carefully chosen. Generally students have a single room and half-board. Alternative accommodation is available, including:

  • College
  • Residence
  • Hotel

ACTIVITIES

Schools organize daily activities including social and cultural events, evenings out (pubs), guided visits to museums and historic buildings. Trips to tourist resorts and places of cultural interest at weekends.

FLIGHTS

Flights are booked with regular airlines.

INSURANCE

All participants have a free subscription to Europe-Assistance, including the "non stop medical" service, insurance against theft of luggage and cancellation.

STUDY HOLIDAYS

Study holidays are for groups of young people (aged 8-18) accompanied by an adult, who remains with the group throughout the holiday. They are an ideal opportunity to learn a foreign language and to appreciate the importance of foreign languages, at the same time as having fun. You will be able to visit interesting places and to play sports at the same time as putting your new language skills into practice

COURSES

Courses are for between 8 – 15 students. Generally they include 15/20 lessons a week. Teaching materials are normally provided by the school. Students are divided into age groups and level (according to an initial language test).

ACCOMMODATION

Family stays

This is the best type of accommodation for people who can adapt easily. Habits are different abroad: meal times, food, etc. Generally a "packed lunch" is provided, and the student has breakfast and dinner with the family. An out-of-school range of activities is organized by the school and the families are chosen carefully.

  • College

This is ideal for the youngest and for boys and girls who have not been abroad before. Rooms are either singles or small dormitories, depending on the school. Colleges generally have sophisticated sports facilities so the out of school activities are carried out in the college itself.

  • Canadian and American campuses

A campus in North America is usually very large, with parks and gardens, classrooms and excellent sports facilities, which can be used by students as they wish.

ACTIVITIES

Study holidays are tightly scheduled so each day there is always something to do, even after class. There is a weekly trip to another locality and frequent cultural activities.

FLIGHTS

Only regular airlines are used, or rail, where possible. On arrival the group is met by representatives of the local organization and taken to the college or to family accommodation.

INSURANCE

All participants have a free subscription to AMI, including a non stop medical service, cover for the theft of luggage and against cancellation.

MANAGER SERVICE

This service is for professionals in any business sector who wish to improve their language skills and have only a limited period of time available.

We have therefore chosen a small number of schools providing rapid intensive courses on the basis of the quality of their courses, efficiency and cost.

We have deliberately avoided creating an overall package, to allow managers to choose the type of accommodation they prefer and to organize their own flight and free time.

You can arrange an appointment for initial advice on the level to choose, and for information about flights and accommodation, as well as how to continue your studies after the course abroad.

Students will be tested for their language skills in order to establish their level and to arrange a customized course to get the most out of the little time available.

COURSES

Individual intensive courses

With direct, intensive teaching method (at least one week with up to 10 lessons per day). Programmes are designed on the basis of the language and professional needs of participants.

Specialist courses

Designed for senior managers, businessmen and professionals in all sectors, the courses are focused on specific terminology and a range of professional activities.

Combined courses

A mixture of small group courses, generally in the morning, with individual, customized lessons, in the afternoon.

Group 5

Groups of no more than 6 in a class, with participants of different nationalities, chosen on the basis of their common interests and aims.

Homestay Programme

The student stays at the home of the teacher and has between 15 – 30 individual, customized lessons for week.
